 Hunters Safety Classes areheld every Wednesday & Thursday Night in March. 4H Shotgun Shooting Sessions will run for 5 weeks starting the first Tuesday in August and running through the first Tuesday in September. Graduates of the 4H program will be invited to the Youth Hunt.

Sporting Clay,  Leagues Wednesday Evenings from April 16th through September Trap & Skeet are also shot on Wednesday Evenings.

   2008 Events

Regularly Scheduled Events:Chicken Shoots the last Sunday of every month in 2008.The club is open for Chicken Shoots (5 birds-trap, $2, winner gets a chicken, ties shoot off).  Practice rounds of trap are also available.

Monthly Meetings are the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. every Wednesday, starting April 2,

February 16: The annual Cabin Fever Reliever Sporting Clays shoot to benefit the Blanchardville Pheasant Pen will be held on February16.  Bad weather date is February 23.  Shoot starts at 9:00 am, 50 birds, $20.  For more information, call Dan at (608) 523-4015.

March 1: The Annual Meeting will be held at the club.  At this meeting, board members will be voted on and all members are welcome to attend.  Doors will open at 5:00 pm.  Please come and participate in the governance of the club.  Food will be served and there will certainly be opportunity for some camaraderie.

March 5&6, 12&13, 19&20, 26&27:  Hunter Safety classes will be provided on the above dates.  Hours are from 7:00-9:00 pm.  Please be at the first session to get your youth signed up for the course.  Also, please note the April youth/mentor turkey hunt below.

March 15: The Redneck 200 Sporting Clays shoot will begin with the first 100 birds being shot at Mayville Gun Club.  The second half will be on March 29, at Argyle.

March 22:Hunter Safety Fun Day

March 29:  The Redneck 200 second half will be shot at Argyle and awards banquet to be held following the event for the participants. Open shooting will be available for those not participating in the Redneck Event. Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information

April 2:  Argyle Rod and Gun opens for Open Shooting of Trap, Skeet and Five-Stand to be held on Wednesdays throughout the summer.

April 5&6:  Youth Turkey Hunt, open to youths 12-16 years of age (hunter safety participants get first choice).

April 9:   Sporting Clays League Meeting to set up rules and procedures for the 2008 Sporting Clays League.  All interested parties are welcome to attend.

April 12:  Sportsman’s Holiday hours are noon – 4:00pm.  A pile of events!  $10 per round introductory Sporting Cays with mentors available to introduce you to the sport. Chicken Shoot.  Free archery and instruction.  Catch and release trout fishing.  ATV presentation with information of safety courses.  Pheasants Forever and Green County Conservation League representatives.  Possibly, exhibition shooters if we can work it out.  Pheasants Forever appreciation night to follow.  Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information.

April 16: Sporting Clay course will be set for league practice and open shooting through the end of September.

May 26: Veterans Memorial Day 50-bird sporting clay event. Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information.

June 7 MS Shoot for a Cure 50-bird sporting clay event. Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information.

July 12:  Pheasants Forever 50-bird sporting clay event.  Lion’s Club Steak Fry to follow. Call Bob at 608-325-4494 for additional information.

August 24: Sporting Clays League tournament and Steak Fry.  Open shooting will be available for Trap, Skeet, and Five-Stand as well.  Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information.

September 1:  Labor Day with Clays 50-bird sporting clay event. Call the clubhouse 608-543-3986 for additional information.

September 20 Shoot it Down Sporting Clays shoot and fun day.  Proceeds to reduce the Argyle Rod and Gun Club building debt.  This event is limited to 100 tickets.
