Old Business:
Secretaries Report; Last full board meeting was in April. A newsletter generated after a small November meeting was used for an agenda for this meeting
Publicity: Dave placed a full page ad in WBH with the tentative schedule set at the November meeting. He will print up more, which can be distributed at the annual meeting. Shoots also listed in Stateline Archery Areas Shoot Card. (Bob showed everyone they have arrived) and 3D.com. Al stated that the youth tournament date was changed because it would conflict with the state shoot. The Youth Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 25th
Annual Banquet: Tentatively set for April 22th at the Argyle Rod & Gun Club. Easter is the previous weekend and the Rod & Gun Club has a shoot the weekend before that. This date coincides with our first 3D Shoot. There was concern that we might not have enough volunteers to pull off a shoot and our Annual Banquet both on the same day. It was felt that careful planning and getting more people involved directly with the event could work. Raffles could run all day and we might pick up new members coming to the shoot and also make more money on the raffles.
Outdoor Range Meeting: Positive feedback from AR&GC noted. We will be attending a meeting with the AR&GC board on January 9th at 7pm. Fees and Calendar will be discussed.
Archery Hunter’s Safety Course: Dave questioned what is the status of Archery Hunter’s Safety Courses locally and questioned if none were planned would the SCWArchers be interested it going together with Boy Scout Venture Crew 1832 to hold one. Kevin said he had been certified in the past but hadn’t renewed recently. He stated how to get a hold of from the National Bowhunter Education Foundation and check on things. He volunteered to do a course if his certification still was valid or needed just a quick refresher course for him. Dave will contact the national people for more information. This would be open to the venture scouts and club members. Kevin would like to keep the group around 15 ideally
Pop Machine: The compressor on the pop machine died. Bob made inquiries on a used replacement and could not find a good option, Motion by Steve/2nd Jim to purchase a new compressor and other needed parts for ~$450. Motion Carried
New 3D Targets: We have $2000 budgeted for 3D target repair and new target purchases. 9 targets need new cores, which should cost under $500. That leaves ~$1500 for new large target purchases. We also plan on purchasing at least 1 medium target to be used for a raffle at our Banquet/Shoot. We may also be able to get a new head for the “squirrel chewed” Grizzly Bear. Another Huge target like an Elk, Polar Bear, or Caribou or some other huge target will be purchased. There is a small standing bear next to a stump that there was interest in. Several of the Board members will get together to go shopping at Rinehart’s in the next few weeks.
Upcoming Shoots and Leagues: There will be no change in Membership Dues or League Fees in 2006. Our first indoor shoot is our “Alka Seltzer” Shoot on New Years day starting at 10am. Las Vegas (Monday), 300 (Thursday & Friday), and Youth Leagues (Saturday & Sunday) start the first week of January while the Bowhunter League will start the first Tuesday of February
